Establishment of the W. M. Keck Foundation Center for THz Spectroscopy for Biological Materials

The W. M. Keck Foundation awarded to an interdisciplinary group of faculty from the University of Virginia Engineering School, the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine a $750,000 award to establish the Center for THz Spectroscopy for Biological Materials at U.Va.

The new center will set the stage for the development of a device that will allow the study of biological molecules using the terahertz spectrum - a large range of electromagnetic wave frequencies between 100 gigahertz and 10 terahertz.
