Dave is currently working on a study of pediatric residents' abilities to read and interpret bedside flowsheets in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  His research interests include patient safety, technology implementation, and decision making within the healthcare domain.

Jianhong participated in surveys on surgeons' attitudes towards patient safety as well as developing a perceptual judgment trainer for laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) surgery. She successfully defended her thesis on Safety Culture in Surgical Residency Programs across Virginia in August of 2004.

Stephen developed a user interface for collaborative decision making in monitoring and retargeting Tactical Tomahawk missiles. He successfully defended his thesis entitled Interface Design and Team Structure in a Collaborative Environment in August of 2004.

 

 
Missy Cummings

Missy was working on the Tactical Tomahawk mission planning monitoring project. In 2003, she successfully defended her dissertation titled "Designing Decision Support Systems for a Revolutionary Command and Control Domains". Now she is an assistant professor at MIT.

 

 
John Cushing

John completed his Master’s degree in 2003. He studied the use of overview displays as applied to Tactical Tomahawk mission planning. His thesis was entitled, “A Measurement of the Effectiveness of an Overview Display for the Mission to Launch Platform Assignment Process Essential to the Tomahawk Strike Coordinator”.  He is now on rotation as an Instructor at West Point.

Hui completed his thesis in 2003 entitled “Are Patients at Higher Risk if Having Operations at Night, on Weekends, or Holidays?” and  currently he works for a company in North Virginia.

Tom developed the Remote Analysis of Team Environments software (RATE) and finished his Master’s thesis in 2003, entitled: “Team Performance Measurement: Measuring Inter-Rater Reliability/Agreement of Independent Team Scores”. Tom is continuing to enhance the RATE and will be starting Dental school in 2004.
