I joined the Department of Systems and Information Engineering at the University of Virginia as an Assistant Professor in 2005 after completing my Ph.D. in Statistics at Rice University. My research area is time series analysis. I like to work on applied problems involving statistical methodology development. Some of my specific research contributions to time series analysis are in the areas of computational finance, nonlinear time series with multiple data types, outlier detection for environmental network data, and hierarchical Bayesian model development. The applications concerning some of the methodological development include developing trading strategies for international equity markets, portfolio diversification, detecting outliers in ozone measurements, and predicting spawning success of fish.
