| Design and Analysis of Simulators
for Training Medical and Nursing Professionals |
Goals: To train clinicians to
detect and diagnose prostate and breast cancers at the early stages by
ensuring that skills are systematic, time-effective and highly accurate.
Projects
currently underway include:
- designing and building a computerized and
physical (hybrid) simulator to train prostate examination skills to
clinicians
- defining design characteristics such as
basic elements of life-like anatomy, multiple and reconfigureable
scenarios with graded levels of difficulty, and feedback on trainee
technique and performance
- separating the skills and rules level of
decision making (using Rasmussen's SRK framework)
- evaluating the simulator with medical and
nursing practitioner students
