Curriculum and Concentrations The curriculum was developed by Systems Engineering faculty as well as faculty of the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration and our Executive Advisory Board. Our focus is information dominance: the point at which decision sciences, information technology, information analysis, modeling and simulation, and strategic policy formulation converge. Organizations achieving information dominance have the means to exploit information technology for a significant market advantage. Core Curriculum: Introduction to Systems Engineering • Give our degree candidates an introduction to the systems engineering process and introduce the student to critical issues in the field of systems engineering, • Provide an introduction to data-based modeling within both a deterministic and probabilistic framework, • Introduce members of the Program community to the issues of management in the highly dynamic information technology environment, and • Provide the foundation for subsequent elective courses in the program on both an Information Technology and Mini-MBA track. Electives Include: Risk and Decision Analysis There is a Friday evening seminar series after dinner, in which practitioners and academic specialists present talks on a wide variety of subjects. Accelerated Masters Program participants also have the opportunity to apply their knowledge management toward a Capstone project. |
