Q: I am interested in the Accelerated Master's Program. When is the best time for me to send in my online preliminary application?

A: Given the Program’s enrollment process , interested and qualified candidates can submit their On-Line Preliminary application anytime throughout the year, but generally speaking, the sooner you complete it and send it in, the sooner the admission process can take place. Enrollment is limited so early completion of the online preliminary application is important.

Q: How soon after I complete my online preliminary application will I learn of my academic qualification to complete the Official Application for Admission?

A: The online preliminary application takes only a few minutes to complete. To help determine if you qualify for admission, simply complete the online pre-application today. We will review your pre-qualification quickly and advise you on what you need to do to proceed with the admission process.

Q: Assuming my online preliminary application warrants qualification to complete the Official Application for Admission, what is the deadline for submitting the Official Application?

A: Candidates seriously interested in the benefits of the Accelerated Master's Degree Program on their careers should submit their Official Application for Admission as early as possible. This enables the candidate to make plans for the upcoming 11-month program in terms of his or her professional schedule and, if needed, coordinating financial support from one's employer.

Q: What are the backgrounds of the candidates in the Program?

A: Degree recipients have worked for such highly respected firms as Accenture, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Capital One, Lockheed Martin and Philip Morris, just to name a few. Many areas of the federal government and military, in addition to the corporate sector, have been represented by candidates. Degree seeking candidates from small and family owned businesses have also applied for admission, been accepted and enrolled.

Q: Can I submit my On-Line Official Application if I have self-determined that I already meet each of the prerequisites listed in the Preliminary Application?

A: Yes. We strongly encourage prospective program candidates who have already self-determined that they meet the necessary prerequisites to move forward in submitting their On-Line Official Application. This will help to both expedite the official application process and enable you to, pending an official offer of admission, make plans accordingly for the start of the next cohort.

Q: What if I'm not an "engineer" per se? Can I still apply for the program?

A: Yes. The Accelerated Program has been fortunate to have degree candidates from many areas including medicine, education and non-profit. If you have the analytical, critical thinking and decision making skills, then one’s field of industry is secondary.

Q: Will you be holding any information sessions which I could attend to learn more about the Accelerated Program?

A: The Accelerated Master’s Program holds both Open House sessions (at the University of Virginia) and Information Sessions (around the mid-Atlantic) throughout the year. Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to attend. Please visit the "Calendar of Events" website section for a listing. Reservations to attend are recommended.

Q: Do I have to be a resident of the State of Virginia in order to enroll in the Accelerated Master's Program?

A: No. All interested and qualified candidates for admission may apply, regardless of one's geographic designation, though the majority of our degree seeking candidates are primarily from the Mid-Atlantic region.
